Providing an understanding of the importance of matching users and how to undertake user matching correctly.

This guide presumes that Edusync Microsoft has been added to the school by Wonde or via the Wonde Partner Hub.

Before proceeding with the setup, add the app "Wonde User Provision" as a trusted app on this page in the Google Admin Console to avoid connection issues in the first step of the setup wizard.

The primary purpose of Edusync Microsoft is to match user profile data that Wonde holds from your MIS/SIS database, in order to carry out the provisioning of new users if required and any other actions you have directed the tool to do. The guide below will help you to achieve the initial setup of Edusync Microsoft.

  1. Log in to your School portal by navigating to school.wonde.com.

Find your school and select it.

Enter your login credentials and log in or send yourself a magic link to your mailbox. You will not be able to use a password to log in until you add the option in your account settings, once logged in.

Click 'Next' and enter your password or click 'Send magic link' to send a login link to your mailbox.

  1. Approving access to school MIS/SIS data for Edusync Microsoft

Within the School portal, you will see Edusync Microsoft as pending approval.

Click on the tile and it will take you to the settings page for Edusync Microsoft.

Review the permissions on the flyouts. These permissions denote the data access that Wonde will require for the purposes of the Edusync Microsoft tool. Click Approve access in the top right-hand corner when you are happy with the permissions, select Approve application.

Return to the School Portal to prepare for the next steps.

  1. Completing the Edusync Microsoft setup wizard

Hover over the Edusync Microsoft tile on the Wonde School Portal and click 'Launch' which will open Edusync Microsoft in a new tab. Selecting 'Settings' will return you to the permissions and other administrative options.

You will be presented with the 3 step setup wizard:

Step 1: Connect

The first step is to connect to your Microsoft Entra ID tenant by inputting your Azure Tenant ID and clicking 'Login to Microsoft'. You will then log in as an Admin to grant access to the required Microsoft APIs.

Having successfully approved access to the Microsoft APIs, you will progress to step two.

Step 2: Settings

You will have access to these settings in the main UI, as part of the initial setup, however, it would be best practice to ensure the settings are correct now as you will be running the sync later in this guide.

For further information, please see our Microsoft settings article

Once you are happy with the settings in this section, click Next step at the bottom of the page.

Step 3: Match

Matching users correctly will prevent duplicate data from being imported into Microsoft from the school's MIS. For more information, please see our matching user article.

Once you are happy with the user matches, select 'Match' at the bottom of the page.

Step 4: Classes

This section of the wizard will allow you to match up existing Microsoft groups for your classes (including those used for administering teams) with classes in the Wonde database from your school's MIS/SIS.

Once you are happy with the class matches, click Save at the bottom of the page.

You will then see the main user interface. If you are comfortable with all of your settings and matched users you can click 'Calculate MIS sync summary'.

Providing that everything looks as you would expect in the sync summary, click 'Run sync' and wait for all of the actions to be completed in the Sync. On the initial sync, this may take some time.

Once run, you will see the actions from the summary be undertaken on the sync page.

Once you are happy with the changes that have been made by the sync, you may wish to automate the sync. You can do this by clicking the green button, 'Enable automatic MIS sync'.

This sync will run once per day. Some changes made in the school's MIS may take up to 48 hours to be propagated to the Microsoft tenancy. This is because Wonde's integration with your MIS runs reports every 2-4 hours, and Edusync may run the sync to Microsoft before those changes are picked up. The initial setup of the Edusync Microsoft is now complete.
